Pembroke Magazine is published annually and accepts original and previously unpublished poetry, fiction, and creative nonfiction--with submissions accepted online only, through Submittable. Each submission requires a $3 fee to help sustain the magazine. However, there will be NO FEE to submit work during the month of September. Unsolicited email submissions are not accepted. Paper submissions will not be read or returned.
Submissions are open from September 1 through April 30 yearly, with responses mostly in December and May. If after four months you have not heard back regarding your submission, you may query the editor.
Simultaneous submissions are encouraged, but do notify the editor immediately if your work is selected for publication elsewhere. To help us get through the stacks more swiftly, please wait until you receive a reply regarding your submission before you send another. Pembroke Magazine acquires First North American serial rights, and payment is two contributor’s copies.
For flash fiction and flash creative nonfiction, you may upload up to three pieces per submission. For standard-length creative nonfiction and fiction (up to 7,500 words), please upload only one piece per submission. Poets may submit up to three pieces.
The best way to get a sense of the magazine is to read through several issues. Mail-in subscription information can be found here, and issues are also available for purchase at Submittable.
Pembroke Magazine offers one-, two-, and three-year subscriptions through its Submittable site. Click the link below. Thank you for your support!
